Security Cameras Helping the Police
One state in America has come up with a system to catch criminals with the help of local businesses. I thought it was such a great idea and would like Australian Police to consider a similar system.
Local police ask local businesses to sign a pre-consent form for the use of any surveillance footage each business takes, in order to help solve crimes. This not only helps the police, but individual businesses reduce crime in their area.
The police keep a map of where all the local private cameras are located and can use the footage to track people to and from crime locations. Such a simple idea, and one which is cost effective for both parties.
I would urge local businesses in Australia to approach their local police station and put forward this effective idea.
